Computed Tomography (CT)

Corwin Heath Physics provides acceptance testing following equipment installation or repair and annual testing for all CT systems. The CT systems are evaluated to ensure they meet Joint Commission, ACR, and IAC standards, as well as all state regulations.  

The following tests are performed:

  • Image Noise and Uniformity

  • Accuracy and Linearity of CT system numbers

  • Accuracy of water CT numbers over slice width configurations

  • Accuracy of water CT numbers over kVp settings

  • Slice Thickness Accuracy

  • High Contrast Resolution

  • Low Contrast Resolution

  • Computed Tomography Dose Index (CTDI) Evaluation (Patient Doses) (Adult Head, Adult Abdomen, and Pediatric Abdomen Doses)

  • Artifact Evaluation

  • Table Increment/Landmark Evaluation

  • Scatter Radiation Analysis

  • Viewing Monitor Evaluation

  • Laser Imager Evaluation

  • Review and establishment of Quality Control Program

  • CT Protocol Review

  • Gantry Tilt

CT Accreditation Services

For accreditation with either the ACR or IAC, facilities are required to have an annual physics evaluation, phantom images, and an established quality control program. Corwin Health Physics can provide you with these services at the time of the annual physics evaluation and assist you in a smooth and successful accreditation process.
